This dementia, alzheimers situation is getting to be more and more prevalent. I am beginning to wonder if sugar is really the underlying culprit.

A great way to assist families of people living with dementia is to create a social group. DCaf Connections is such a group in Sydney and the group has been together now for over 18 months. To see what they do visit facebook.com/DCaf-Connections-101612998014535/

Dawn I really hope I get to meet you one day. I worked within a team giving 1:1 care to people living with a dementia and/or delirium. Knowing about BPSD certainly helps in trying to establish 'unmet needs,' often pain or worrying about a family member. I truly believe in 'This is me...Alzheimer's society document. But Person centred care is essential in seeing the person and helping them. I so look up at you. The carers often were so grateful for having someone listen to them too, as they often feel alone. I will continue in my plight to raise awareness, alongside beginning my journey as an Alzheimer's volunteer. I'm a care support worker, if I was higher my god what I would love to do e.g. Rgn - in my hospital. All I know is a 'Person centred approach' alongside providing reassurance and activities works end of. Thankyou for your validation in the way I work.

My husband is travelling with Alzheimer's Disease. We live in Busselton and in all the years I have received emails from AAWA all the seminars, lectures, workshops, help... you name it are in Shenton Park or Perth. Travelling is a huge issue for us, and in saying that I feel AAWA has done nothing to guide us in our journey. I would like to see more help for people in our country areas - we often feel so alone.
